New York Film Festival CINEKINK has just awarded Cabaret Desire as BEST NARRATIVE FEATURE! Many thanks to the FEstival and the audience, who decides in in this festival about the winners.

Soho Hosue is a trendy urban and modern club that has houses in London, New York, Los Angeles and Berlin. The first time I’ve heard about them was through my friend Henrik from Berlinagenten. Every club has gym, restaurant, bars, swimming pool, meeting rooms… It’s a renewed version of the old british concept of the “Gentlemen’s private clubs”, but instead of posh and snob, cool and trendy. NO suits, no mobiles, no cameras… Bohemian chic members usually working in media, advertising, culture, music, tv, cinema, arts…

I was staying in Shoreditch Hosue, one of the the three houses they have in London, a place where local and international celebrities use to hang out and party.

London SOho House, the first establishment from which the group grow to the big brand they are today, contacted me through Seren Haf Gibson, to show Cabaret Desire in their small and exclusive cinema, what we did last february 2nd.

The screening was a total success, with a big waiting list because they received more requests to attend than the 33 seats they have in the cinema.

A funny and sharp Kate Copstick introduced me and coordinated a very animated Q&A, with the audience making interesting questions and participating in a vivid debate. The most interesting was all of us thinking how to label my work, ¿is it porn or not? ¿is it feminist or just contemporary and respectful towards women? At the end we convey that my work belong to a new stream of adult independent cinema, the same that happened not that long ago with music and the film industry.

After the debate Cabaret Desire was screened and we gave a dvd  to every person in the theater. Then came some drinks and chat in the Round Bar. It was an amazing night.

I’m thrilled that my cinema is showed and acclaimed in circles like The Soho House, for me this is most important than to be respected amongst the adult cinema traditional ambient and festivals.

And I have to thank the skies because London was waiting for me with sun (no rain, no fog!!!) . During those three days I also was interviewed for the documentary that Seren is doing about women who are starting to change the face of adult cinema.

I am now in Love again with the amazing city that London is and with this new bohemian-chic-private-club concept that Soho House has started,
